It is wonderful watching parents light up (and the teens squirm but smile) as they gush about their children.
“I listened to Dr. Sege give a presentation on HOPE and the power of positivity in caring for children. I made a commitment to asking every parent of an adolescent who I saw for an initial evaluation of an eating disorder to tell me something positive about their child after they had told me about the eating disorder. I incorporated this into the template I use for an initial evaluation of a patient referred for weight loss so it became part of my intake system. It is wonderful watching parents light up (and the teens squirm but smile) as they gush about their children. It allows us to bring some positivity into the conversation about a very difficult topic and has improved my connection to my families.”
